We depart from Altona Pier (SP1) at 10.00 riding along the Coastal Path to Williamstown and on to the Punt (SP2) (eta 11.00). We take the Punt ($5.00) then cycle along Lorimer St to join the River Esplanade and the South Bank Promenade before cycling alongside the Yarra River which we leave to join the Gardiners Creek Trail. The final stage is along the Anniversary Trail to Ashburton (lunch at Miss Ash). We then have a couple of choices for the return ride:
1. We cycle 5 kms to East Malvern station and train home, or,
2. We cycle 14.4 kms back to the city via the Ferndale Trail which rejoins the Gardiners Creek Trail
taking us to Flinders Street Station.
Distances: to Ashburton is 45.5km from SP1 and 29.5 from SP2
Duration: 10.00 to 15.30 from Altona and 11.00 to 15.30 from the Punt.
