Meet at Altona Pier at 10 a.m. and follow the Bay Trail West through the Cheetham Wetlands to the bridge over Skeleton Creek and then to Sanctuary Lakes. Lunch at Waterstone Café. Return by the same route.

Meet at Flinders Street Railway station (information kiosk) at 10:00 a.m. We follow the south side of the Yarra Trail and then along the Gardiners Creek Trail to Ashburton. Lunch at Milk Cloud or Glen Iris Pantry.  Return to Flinders Street station via Ferndale Trail, Gardiners Creek trail and the Yarra Trail north side pontoon track.

Meet at Newport station on the east side at 10 a.m. Follow the Bay Trail to the Capital City Trail and onto the Merri Creek trail near Rushall, then to Ceres for lunch. Return by the same route.

Meet at Altona Pier at 10 a.m., set off to Aberfeldie on the Maribyrnong Trail and brunch at Poyntons Nursery. Return by the same route, train options at Footscray or Seddon.

Meet at Southern Cross platform 9 at 10.15 a.m. and take the 10.21 to Heidelberg. From Heidelberg, we ride down Yarra Street to the Main Yarra Trail, and cycle along the Yarra Trail, through the City of Banyule, following the river past wetlands and a picturesque view of Finns Reserve, to Westerfolds Park. Follow the trail near the river through Westerfolds, crossing a newish bridge over the Yarra and head to Eltham.

There are two or three lunch spots in Eltham, or just north, to choose from, or alternatively for a longer ride, we can continue on the track to Diamond Creek, lunching there or returning to Eltham for lunch. Return home by train from Eltham, or cycle back to Heidelberg.

Distance from Heidelberg to Eltham is 15km (30km return). Extension to Diamond Creek is a further 12km return. The trail includes some modest hills. Some of the trail is not sealed; suitable tyres are a requirement.

Meet at Altona Pier at 10 a.m. and ride along the bike path to Williamstown and head north along the Maribyrnong River in Footscray where we stop for brunch/lunch at the Happy River Café.  We head back home on the same route.

Meet at 10 a.m. at Newport Station, on the east side. Take the Bay Trail and then the Capital City Trail to join the Merri Creek Trail near Rushall Station heading to Dights Falls, and then the Yarra Trail to Abbotsford Convent for lunch. Return by the same route, or train from Victoria Park, Rushall, or Royal Park.

Meet at 10 a.m. at Newport Station, on the east side. Head north on the Bay Trail and then follow the Maribyrnong Trail past the switchback and turn off, heading north along Steele Creek, past the vineyards to Venice in Melbourne, Valley Lake. Return by the same route stopping along the way for lunch.

Medium. Approximately 35km, traverse switchback twice.
