August 2010

Saturday 14 August – Seaholme station to Sanctuary Lakes and return.

NOTE – THIS IS A SATURDAY RIDE, it is not our intention to confuse anyone, just heavy commitments on the following Sunday.

We will meet outside the train station at Seaholme. A train leaves Werribee at 9.26 am and Laverton at 9.36 am to arrive in time for a 10.00 am start. We will ride to Beach Street to the shared trail. Once on the path we will travel west and follow the BayWest trail to the new bridge over Skelton Creek and cross over to Sanctuary Lakes. Once over the bridge we will follow the road to the café on the lake for coffee and a bite to eat. Once re-fuelled, we will return via the “old” bridge crossing Skelton Creek near Lan Avenue, Altona Meadows to get back on the shared trail to Seaholme. This will be a reasonably short but pleasant ride at approximately 25 kms.

Sunday 29 August – Altona to Seddon & return.

NOTE – No trains are running between Newport and Werribee.

This ride is one that keeps coming back, maybe because it’s one of the most popular. We will meet at the Altona pier to leave at 10.00 am. The 9.26 am train from Werribee or 9.36 am from Laverton will get you there in plenty of time. We will follow the BayWest trail through to Williamstown, Yarraville and on the Seddon where we will stop for our usual late breakfast or early lunch at the Gourmet on Gamon. Naturally we will make time for one of their great coffees. Seddon station is nearby for anyone who does not wish to ride the full 40 km return trip.
